What is the offence?
All drivers in Queensland would be aware that drink driving is an offence. However many people do not know that it is also an offence in Queensland to ride other vehicles or even animals while over the legal alcohol limit.
This means that you can be convicted of an offence for drink ‘driving’ a bicycle, scooter, horse, skateboard or almost any other mode of transportation (except for walking, running etc).
What is the penalty?
The maximum penalty for these types of offences is a $4,000 fine or 9 months imprisonment.
