What is the offence?
Holders of certain licences in Queensland must display plates on their vehicle.
- Learner licence holders must display a yellow plate on their vehicle;
- P1 provisional, probationary or restricted licence holders must display a red P-plate on their vehicle;
- P2 provisional, probationary or restricted licence holders must display a green P-plate on their vehicle.
The minimum size of the sign is 14.6cm x 14.6cm and the letters “L” and “P” must be in uppercase.
What is the penalty?
If you fail to display an L-Plate, you and your supervising driver will both be fined $160 each.
Failure to display P-plates correctly will result in a $160 fine and the accumulation of two demerit points.
